It makes good sense to lightly lubricate certain moving parts occasionally. Use ARC lubricant or any Teflon-based lubricant or light machine oil sparingly on specified parts only of the hinges and stays.
For casement windows, the horseshoe, horseshoe slider and gearbox mechanism should be lubricated every 3 months to prevent wear and ease operation. Do not lubricate the shootbbolt.
On Tilt & Turn windows, lubricate the mechanism every 3 months, Just a drop or two of oil applied to each point will be sufficient to keep your Tilt and Turn windows in perfect order. Handles only ever need lubricating if they come into contact with high humidity (such as in a bathroom or kitchen). A single drop of lubricant should do the trick in freeing the handle. Hinges may very occasionally need a drop or two of oil. |
